The Climate Inequality and Integrative Resilience (CLIIR) Center

Housed within the Sustainable Solutions Lab (SSL), the CLIIR Center builds on SSL's work addressing how climate change exacerbates social inequalities. Its mission is to advance understanding of the mechanisms driving these disparities and to develop integrative, actionable solutions that promote equitable climate resilience.

Approach
The CLIIR Center adopts a transdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from diverse academic fields and community stakeholders. By combining social, ecological, and infrastructural perspectives, we work on developing holistic frameworks that inform policies and practices to reduce vulnerabilities and enhance societal well-being.

Focus Areas
The Center features a Decision Support Hub, bringing together scholars and practitioners to develop innovative approaches in decision modeling, support systems design, and community-engaged decision science, tackling challenges in climate preparedness, resilience, and adaptation. Key themes include:

  • Indigenous Knowledge and Approaches to Climate Change and Resilience: Leveraging traditional ecological knowledge and Indigenous governance practices to build resilience and sustainable solutions to climate challenges.
  • Climate Migration: Addressing the social and economic impacts of climate-driven displacement.
  • Climate Change and Health: Investigating how climate change affects public health and well-being.
